Roma Bible Union

Smile has been working in Croatia since 2006 when we took a lorry full of aid for distribution to needy people in the Byash Roma community. We have worked with Bob and Nancy Hitching of the Roma Bible Union as they ministered to this very poor people group who living in appalling conditions in their camps. It is not unusual to see children with scratches and bite marks from the rats that run around their homes at night. The Byash people have remained social outcasts in their 800-year history as migrants in the region, originally from India. The average Byash family has 6 children.

Bob and Nancy have published a children's Bible in the Byash language – the first ever book to be produced in that language – and we thank the Lord for the provision of this wonderful ministry tool. If you would like to help toward the ongoing costs of this publication, we would be glad to hear from you.

We are currently working in partnership with Gospel Recordings to get the Gospel recorded onto tape in the Byash language, which, along with wind-up cassette players, will facilitate ministry to those who cannot read.
