On a Smile trip to Bulgaria, a little girl at Dolna Banja Orphanage took one of our team members to her small bedside cabinet. She slowly opened the door and carefully and gently lifted out her shoebox which she had received from Smile. She gingerly opened the lid to reveal all her worldly goods – comb, brush, toothbrush, bar of rose soap (that was just too good to use), a little doll, crayons, some hairbands and a small notepad. These were all hers, and she was so delighted that somebody somewhere had taken the time and energy to fill a shoebox for her. Every shoebox means another happy child and more smiles.
