SMILE INDIA
Smile began working in India in 2005, in
response to requests for help from several ministries after the
tsunami crisis.
Smile is registered in India as "Smile India".
Our Director is Pastor Samuel of End Time Harvest
Ministries in Bangalore, who was greatly involved in helping
those suffering after the tsunami. Samuel ministers at Jalahalli
East Baptist Church and has an extensive social action programme
in slums of Bangalore. He works tirelessly for the Lord with
limited funds and materials.
PROJECTS
-
DAILY PRESCHOOL runs
from 9.30am to 1 pm for 60 3-5 year old children living in
the slums. They receive good basic education from qualified
teachers followed by a healthy nutritious lunch each day.

AFTER SCHOOL CARE GROUP
where older children learn English, have assistance with
their homework and have the opportunity to develop their IT
skills.

CHILD SPONSORSHIP We
currently have 87 children on our register, of which only 24
are sponsored. If you, your church or organisation wish to
sponsor one of these children and give them a brighter
future, please see our

by making donations to our
Feeding programme.

WIDOW SPONSORSHIP There
are many widows who live in the slums and attend Pastor
Samuel's church who are struggling to survive. For as little
as £15 a month Smile India can purchase a food parcel which
will sustain a widow for a month. The widow will attend the
Smile India centre each month where she will receive a meal,
pastoral support and her food parcel. For further details,

widows through our
Gifts With Love scheme.

TAILORING COURSE for
local women on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons and an IT
course on Wednesday and Friday afternoons. This will enable
them to earn an income and to sustain their families long
term.

MEDICAL CLINICS are
held regularly throughout the year where those that are ill
can come to be seen by a qualified doctor and nurse and be
given medicines which are paid for by Smile. We are also
holding special eye/ear clinics for testing and treatment.

CHRISTIAN LEADERSHIP
TRAINING COURSE every Monday evening for approximately
20 evangelists, pastors and church leaders, providing
training, support and fellowship. If you would like to help

JALAHALLI BAPTIST CHURCH
Smile India Centre is based at Jalahalli Baptist
Church in Bangalore, which Pastor Samuel runs. Smile has helped
to build a church office, guest suite and kitchen, redecorated
the Sunday School room and improved facilities in the sanctuary
by providing fans, keyboards, audio/visual equipment and
computer. Smile would like to further support Pastor Samuel’s
ministry by providing: |

Regular income to support
him and his family, to enable him to give his full attention to his
ministry duties

Ministry materials, both
for his own studies and to distribute to rural pastors

A motorbike would greatly
increase the range of ministry effectiveness for Pastor Samuel and
his staff.
Book supply before
and after: Smile has supplied a new computer for Pastor Samuel, and a
desk and ministry materials for his Leadership Training course.
LONG TERM
PLANS
-
Extend Jalahalli church hall by
demolishing the existing single storey church hall and replacing it
with a three-storey extension. This will enable us to have more
projects running simultaneously and thus help more people. The
anticipated cost is approximately £18,500.

Establish a Christian orphanage for
many of the children who live on the streets or whose parents are
unable to care for them. We wish to purchase a parcel of land on the
outskirts of Bangalore and build an orphanage that can accommodate
up to 100 boys and 100 girls. We would sink a borehole for fresh
water, provide land for growing crops from which the children would
be fed, and establish workshops where the children can learn life
skills such as woodwork, engineering, sewing, bee-keeping, and IT
skills, etc. We anticipate the total cost of purchasing the land and
building the centre to be approximately £100,000

Expand the provision
of Christian leadership training, ministry materials and support for
poor pastors

Provide a
full-time nurse to visit patients suffering from cancer and other
terminal illnesses in their homes

PASTORS
In March 2009, Clive
met up with Pastor Solomon in Chennai, and Pastor Raja of International
Light of God Church in Bangalore. Our

PASTORS' CONFERENCE
Smile held a pastors’ conference at Jalahalli East Baptist Church in
Bangalore in October 2007, which was attended by 150 pastors from the
surrounding area. We have also supported the church’s ministry by
sponsoring a women’s conference and providing books for pastors and
women.
OOTY CONVENT SCHOOL
We have provided Ooty Convent School with stationery and
sports equipment through our Gifts With Love scheme.

QUARRY FAMILIES
Food for 50 quarry
families distributed in 2008, where their remuneration is at subsistence
level. Clive, Gordon and Andy revisited the quarry church in March 2009.
