Interest and support raised in the UK enables more children to have an education, giving them a brighter future and helping them become self-sufficient and well-educated citizens.
Educational value The partnership teaches children in both schools about the wider world and helps them broaden their horizons, bringing current affairs to life. It can improve literacy and promote understanding of diversity, making the curriculum much more interesting. Through these long-term links, children in both schools gain an educational awareness of their different countries, cultures and needs. Mutual understanding Children have the opportunity to learn of the varied situations and experiences of children around the world, giving them a global awareness and a sense of responsibility that will remain with them in their future careers and lives. Who can twin We are able to accept twinning applications from any school in the UK, which we will consider for twinning with one of the schools overseas in which we are working. Unfortunately we cannot accept twinning applications from non-UK schools. Smile International’s school twinning programme operates in Africa, Asia and Europe.

     

WHAT YOUR SCHOOL CAN DO Contact Your school can correspond with your twinned school and provide encouragement to the children and teachers, who are often working with very limited resources. Visits Staff members may visit your twinned school, so that you can see first-hand the difference your help is making, as well as strengthen the friendships already made It is a requirement that all visits are organised through Smile International and, in the interests of child protection, no independent visits are permitted.

Items to make – cut-out money boxes to raise funds for Smile's Christmas Shoebox project, origami page markers and origami storage box. 	CHRISTMAS CARDS Christmas Pictures And Cards Colouring PDF 41 pages (4 MB) Colouring cards in two sizes and colouring pages, showing the Biblical Christmas story in sequence, with text of the events, and historical and geographical background information and maps. These cards are suitable for Christmas fund raising. The cards can be printed in colour, or in black and white.
	NATIVITIES Nativity Colour And Cut Out PDF 42 pages (8 MB) Scenes to make in 3 versions: Full Nativity, One-Page Nativity and Zigzag Nativity, with summary of the story and maps. The Zigzag Nativity can be cut out and made up without the need for sticking or glue. (This PDF includes the One-Page Nativity set below.)
	ONE-PAGE NATIVITY One-Page Nativity Colour And Cut Out PDF 4 pages (790 KB) Basic nativity scene that can be made from one A4 sheet. This scene is also included in the above PDF. This is given separately for ease of download and sharing via email. This Nativity can be cut out, coloured, or printed in colour, and folded flat for insertion as a gift in a Christmas card.
