Livingstone Baptist Church

Smile's first visit to Zambia was in 2003 when Clive preached at Livingstone Baptist Church, just inside the Zambian border at Victoria Falls. He then made a return visit in 2004 with a Smile team.

Hope and Faith Community School

After preaching at Livingstone Baptist Church in 2004, Clive met with Rosemary Mumbi who had travelled from Lusaka and Smile was able to give funds for the sinking of their own water well. Rosemary is a retired school teacher who started Hope and Faith Community School for street children, which has grown rapidly.

Smile took a team to Zambia in 2006 to visit Rosemary's school and give further help. In 2007 Clive led another Smile team to Zambia, to set up a child sponsorship and feeding programme at the school. Clive bought and distributed goats, chickens and food under Smile's Gifts With Love scheme, and the Smile team decorated some of the classrooms. During the week the team took all 315 children on a day's coach outing to Adventure City and the children thoroughly enjoyed their day at the swimming pool, which brought enormous delight in such a water-starved land.

Bishop Bwanali's School

In 2005 Clive met Bishop Bwanali G Billy Phiri at the BWA Congress in Birmingham, UK, and he invited Clive to visit his school in Lusaka, which Clive did in 2006 and 2007. Smile helps to fund the daily feeding programme for 300 children. Bishop Bwanali is the founder and director of the World Baptist Evangelistic Association (www.worldbaptist.org), based in a suburb of Lusaka, which trains pastors and has a range of ministries, especially to prisoners and children. Smile is seeking to help Bishop Bwanali stock his theological library so that his organisation can train many more evangelists.

Zambia trip 2007 team comments:

Ray Avenell – "We met a number of inspirational people and our team really worked well together. We used our God-given gifts to encourage others and saw first hand how God is working physically amongst children and young people."

Sue Shadloo – "The Smile trip, as with the others I have been on, has been really well organised from start to end. The time set aside for fellowship each day with team members is invaluable. This trip has been a complete spiritual refreshment for me! I have come home feeling they have given me far more than I gave and I feel privileged to have been able to work amongst these wonderful people."
