We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for being a beacon of hope in this crisis filled world. Your support and generosity have never been so vital during times such as these, as it brings with it lasting transformation and a real sense of God’s love and kindness – something the world is in desperate need of. 

In this fast-changing world it can seem as though there is an ever-increasing need to really dig deep to find something to smile about. We’re facing shocking news stories, an unprecedented increase in suffering and even more global instability as the months go on. Sometimes, it can feel like there is less and less to smile about. 

This is why we want to encourage you to Seize the Smiles! To seize means to ‘take hold of’ or ‘take an opportunity eagerly and decisively’. Let’s be eager and decisive in taking hold of this opportunity to really make a difference, give people a reason to smile and create more smiles during these unsettling times. 

This season especially, is a great time to increase our passion, continue to be committed and remain intentional in cultivating ways to give people something to smile about. We know and can tangibly feel when we give to others, it not only blesses them but us too. It’s truly one of the best acts of service we can do because it has a profound ripple effect, which makes giving and supporting others so special. “Give and it will be given to you.” Luke 6:38. 

It might feel like you can’t do much, but please know a gift from you can make a remarkable difference to someone facing extreme challenges. During these difficult times, we can still be eager and excited to help and serve others, we can still “Encourage one another and build each other up.” 1 Thessalonians 5:11. 

With your faithful support our FEED projects can continue to be the lifeline they are for so many. While so many people feel alone, forgotten and abandoned, let us be the ones to lift them up with love and support and show them we’re still here, we care about them and we’re going to keep making a difference. 

When we join together in faith and purpose, we are reminded that no act of kindness is ever wasted. Whether it’s a warm meal, a kind word, or simply showing up for someone who feels invisible, these moments matter deeply. They reflect the heart of what we stand for — turning tears into smiles. In the process, we become carriers of light in a world that often feels overwhelmed by darkness.

Let’s continue to be those who choose to smile, and more importantly, help others smile — especially when they don’t think they can. Together, we can be the difference. Together, we can Seize the Smiles.

Let’s choose faith over fear, compassion over indifference and hope over despair.

This year, as we continue to celebrate Smile’s 25th anniversary we are still running Smile’s 25 Challenge. To keep celebrating this milestone throughout the year we are encouraging you to give £25 a month for 12 months. This equates to £300 for the whole year and serves as a practical way to celebrate and remember this meaningful anniversary while continuing to bring lasting transformation to those we help.
